Hello Hutchison Hornets!Mark

Welcome back to another exciting school year!

My name is Rhonda Mark and I am the school counselor at Irma Dru Hutchison Elementary.  I have been in education for over 20 years with 11 of those years being a school counselor. I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies/Elementary Education in 1995 from TexasSouthern University……..Go TIGERS! Also, I received a Master of Arts degree from Prairie View A & M University of Texas in 2003…..Go PANTHERS! I am currently certified in Reading, Special Education, ESL, and Counseling.  I have worked in various capacities with all four certifications throughout my educational career.

I have been married to my wonderful husband Derrick for 22 years and have three beautiful children Alexus, Deundra, & Derrick Justin. One of my main goals as a school counselor is to provide an environment that maximizes student success through leadership, advocacy, and collaboration. School Counseling has truly been a passion for me and I look forward to visiting with each and every one of you.

See you around the school!

Individual Counseling

All students must deal with difficult issues sometime during their school career. These concerns sometimes include conflicts with other students as well as stressful family changes. The counselor is here to help students work through individual problems they may be facing in order to help them be successful here at school.

Group Counseling

Group counseling provides a unique opportunity for students to be encouraged by others at the same age who are facing similar problems. Counseling groups are offered according to the needs of students and may include such issues as bullying, divorce, grief, self-esteem and friendship.

Classroom Guidance Lessons

The most effective way to meet the needs of the greatest number of students is through providing classroom guidance lessons. These lessons may be led by the Counselor or the classroom teacher. They include topics that are relevant to the entire school population such as character education, conflict resolution skills, career development, studying and test taking skills and drug prevention.
